Senate Structure

The Arizona State University Senate is composed of elected members who represent the Academic Assemblies of the four ASU Campuses (Downtown, Poly Technic, Tempe and West).  Its responsibilities and authority are described in ACD 112-01 .

The University Academic Council (UAC) is comprised of the elected leadership from each of the four campuses: Campus President, President-elect and past Presidents.

The purpose and mission of the ASU Senate and UAC is  shared governance, which is codified in the Arizona Constitution and Arizona Board of Regents Policy manual (Arizona Revised Statutes 15-1601 Arizona Board of Regents Policy Manual- 1–113 and 6-201).  It is re-emphasized in the ASU Constitution’s preamble.  Shared Governance is pre-eminent process and outcome of the ASU Senate, its leadership and its representative members.
