Title of Motion: Request from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences – Department of English - for the establishment of an undergraduate certificate-TESOL – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
Action Requested: The Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee recommends University Senate approval of a proposal submitted by the College of College of Liberal Arts & Sciences – Department of English - for the establishment of an undergraduate certificate-TESOL – Teaching English as a Second or Other Language
Rationale: The proposed certificate program would allow recognizing the coherent set of courses students take in the field of TESOL. The TESOL certificate is likely to increase the marketability of our undergraduate students who are applying for an English-teaching position oversees.
