Title of Motion: Request from the School of Sustainability - for the establishment of an undergraduate certificate – Energy and Sustainability
Action Requested: The Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee recommends University Senate approval of a proposal submitted by the– School of Sustainability - for the establishment of an undergraduate certificate – Energy and Sustainability
Rationale: Through interdisciplinary scholarship, the focus of this certificate will be to examine the current affairs of energy and sustainability. Students will begin with an overview of how energy affects our lives, and policy options for energy, as well as the science of energy and how we currently generate energy for society. Then students will have the option to choose three courses from a list of upper-division courses ranging from those in sustainability, geography and architecture to
geology, engineering and economics.
