Senate Motion #2015-62

Motion Introduced by: Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee, Kathleen Puckett, Chair

Date of First Reading: March 30, 2015

Date of Second Reading: April 20, 2015

Title of Motion: Request from the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering – The Polytechnic School - for the disestablishment of an undergraduate degree – BS in Product Development and Manufacturing Technology

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.

Rationale: The BS in Product Development and Manufacturing Technology combines courses from applied psychology, engineering and engineering technology, and technological entrepreneurship and management. It requires students to choose a focus area in Operations Management Technology, Prototyping, or User Experience. The Prototyping focus area courses were originally created to support the BS in Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree, which has been disestablished, so these courses will no longer be available to support the BS in Product Development and Manufacturing Technology degree.
