Title of Motion: Request from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences –- School of Life Sciences – for the establishment of a graduate certificate – Environmental Communication and Leadership

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.   

Rationale: The focus of this certificate is to train graduate students in environmental sciences to communicate their findings to the broader public and decisions makers. This certificate program will train graduate students to apply their training in communication, policy, and leadership to current environmental issues. The goal of this certificate is to give graduate students in environmental disciplines the important leadership and communication skills needed to increase their influence and reach above and beyond academia.
