Title of Motion: Request from the School of Sustainability – for the establishment of a graduate degree – MS in Global Sustainability Science

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.   

Rationale: The MS in Global Sustainability Science program is a two-year program in global sustainability developed by ASU in collaboration with Leuphana University of Lüneburg (LUL), Germany. The program provides an academically balanced education in sustainability, with experiential and project-based learning opportunities and an international perspective. The focus is on key competencies in sustainability, including systems -, futures -, values -, and strategic- thinking, and interpersonal teamwork and stakeholder engagement. The program enables students to become sustainability change agents utilizing scientific evidence for sustainability problem-solving.
