Senate Motion #2019-33

Motion Introduced by: Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee, Lili Wang, Chair

Date of First Reading: February 25, 2019

Date of Second Reading: March 25, 2019

Title of Motion: Request from the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation –– for the name change of a graduate degree– from: MS in Aging and Life Span Development – to: MS in Aging

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.

Rationale: CONHI proposes to rename the MS in Aging and Life Span Development degree, to MS in Aging degree. In contrast to the MS degree, the proposed MS in Aging will draw from the educational competencies of the Academy of Gerontology in Higher Education that emphasize theoretical, empirical and evidence-based practices focusing on key current and future issues faced by mid-life and older adults.
