Title of Motion: Request from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences – School of Earth and Space Exploration – for the establishment of an undergraduate certificate – Water Resources

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.

Rationale: The certificate in water resources prepares undergraduate students in topics related to hydrologic science and their application to water resources management. Exciting career opportunities exist in this field within government agencies, private sector consulting and engineering firms and non-profit organizations. The sequence of classes offered through the certificate build from a foundation in geological sciences up to water policy and design aspects of hydrology, as selected by the student.
