Title of Motion: Request from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – Dean’s Office – for the transfer of an academic program – Master of Liberal Studies and Master of Liberal Studies (Film and Media Studies) – from: The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – to: The College of Integrative Arts and Sciences

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.  

Rationale:  The Master’s of Liberal Studies better fits within the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts because it pairs well with the existing Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. The Humanities in The College already have numerous programs and the Master of Liberal Studies is less robust than it would be elsewhere as a result.

The Faculty of Leadership and Interdisciplinary Studies in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts have assembled a strong core of faculty who are positioned to support this program.
