Title of Motion: Request from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning – for the name change of a graduate certificate – from: Transportation Systems – to: Transdisciplinary Transportation Studies

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.  

Rationale: Enrollment in the certificate from outside the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning (SGSUP) has been declining steadily. Students in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (SSEBE) already take a course called ''Transportation Systems" and thus perceive little benefit to their transcript by completing a certificate with the same name. The new name will attract more students from across the many disciplines at ASU that study Transportation.
