Title of Motion: Request from the School of Sustainability – for the establishment of a graduate degree - MS in Sustainable Food Systems
Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.
Rationale: The MS in Sustainable Food Systems prepares students for careers in food policy in the private and public sector. This 30 credit hour graduate program focuses on U.S. food policy and processes. Graduates are trained in applied systems thinking, leadership, and sustainability concepts and applications. Graduates possess a breadth of food and agriculture knowledge gained through faculty mentoring, participation in the virtual classroom, immersive classes, class video meetings, and group research projects conducted with and for client organizations.
