Title of Motion: Request from the – Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering – School of Computing, Informatics, and Decision Systems Engineering - for the establishment of graduate degree – PhD in Data Science, Analytics, and Engineering

 Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.

 Rationale: The proposed PhD in Data Science, Analytics and Engineering program is designed to produce data scientists, analysts, and engineers that can meet the rapidly evolving needs and opportunities for highly proficient professionals that can manage data and convert that data into relevant information for making decisions. This degree program will accept students that have a background in quantitative modeling and computational skills and provide them with advanced knowledge in data analysis and engineering. This degree program is a collaboration between the School of Computing, Informatics, and Decision Systems Engineering (CIDSE) and the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (SoMSS) in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
