Title of Motion: Request from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – The T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics - for the disestablishment of an undergraduate certificate – Child Life

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.   

Rationale: Enrollment was discontinued in this certificate when the National Child Life organization starting requiring a Master’s degree for certification in Child Life several years ago. They have since switched the requirements a number of times. We can no longer support the internship requirement for students to be eligible to take the certification exam. This is a jointly owned certificate, and the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions approves the disestablishment.
