Title of Motion: Request from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences – School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies – for the disestablishment of a graduate certificate – Medieval Studies

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.   

Rationale: The Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies proposes to disestablish their certificate programs because they are not fulfilling the value to the students. The classes that are required of the certificates are not taught regularly and students are having a difficult time completing any of the certificates during their time at ASU. Because the Center is not a school/department, they cannot ensure that the classes required by the certificate are being taught.
