Title of Motion: Proposed Constitutional Amendment Regarding Senate Membership
Action Requested: New Section II.A.1.g No person, while serving as a campus president-elect, president, or past president may simultaneously represent a specific representational unit as a senator.
Rationale: This traditional senate policy should be made explicit. It follows from the nature of representation and the nature of leadership: a senator represents a single unit, while a president represents a campus, and since units can be in conflict, the president should not also represent a single unit. Thus, each president is a member of the senate, but not a senator.
