2022-22

Motion Introduced by:  Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee,

Date of First Reading:    January 31, 2022

Date of Second Reading: February 28, 2022

Title of Motion: Request from the – Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering – School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy – for the disestablishment of a graduate degree – PSM in Solar Energy Engineering and Commercialization

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.

Rationale: In the proposal to the ABOR to establish this program, it stated that the program would have 30 students in the program starting 2018. Unfortunately, the program has low enrollment starting in 2018. The fee of $500 per credit hour covered many of the activities. However, this is based on an enrollment of at least 18 students to cover the total cost. Given the low numbers of students makes this program non-sustainable. The new MS in Modern Energy Production and Sustainable Use program, expands students' subject matter, including wind and nuclear energies, sustainability and battery storage.
