Title of Motion: Request from New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences – School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies – for the name change of an undergraduate certificate – From: Women and Gender Studies – To: Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.   

Rationale: Changing the name will allow us to remain competitive in recruiting students to this certificate and align with other Universities such as Penn State, Yale, Washington, and Ohio State to name just a few. Sexuality studies is of interest to many students, is embedded in our work and built into our curriculum. This name change will help us further market the work we are doing and potentially attract more students.
