Motion Introduced by: Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee
Date of First Reading: August 29, 2022
Date of Second Reading: October 3, 2022
Title of Motion: Request from Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions – for the disestablishment of a graduate degree – MA in Policy Advocacy
Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.
Rationale: It was determined that students interested in careers within the public policy field would be better suited with other similar graduate degrees already offered in our college. There are only two required courses for the program, it was designed to be as flexible as possible. However, this flexibility presents challenges in developing the skills and knowledge base that a degree in public administration or policy would provide students.
