Title of Motion: Request from Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions – School of Community Resources and Development for the establishment of an undergraduate certificate – Law Enforcement in Parks and Protected Areas

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.   

Rationale:  The certificate will allow parks and recreation students to acquaint themselves with basic law enforcement skills applicable to parks and protected areas and criminology students to acquaint themselves with basic knowledge on parks and protected areas, in so doing granting some of them the option of pursuing park ranger type positions.
