Title of Motion: Request from the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts – for the
establishment of an undergraduate certificate – Organizational Leadership

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university
administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.   

Rationale: In the certificate program in organizational leadership, students develop the skills
that leaders need to solve problems, communicate effectively, assess programs, manage
resources and evaluate emerging technologies. The skills students develop are applicable to any
work or environment, regardless of assigned role, in organizations across all sectors: private,
nonprofit, government and military. This certificate is designed for a partnership with the U.S.
Navy to provide training to enlisted personnel sailors, marines, and coast guards.
