Motion Introduced by: Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee

Date of First Reading: August 28, 2023

Date of Second Reading: October 2, 2023

Title of Motion: Request from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College – Division of Educational Leadership and Innovation – for the disestablishment of a graduate certificate – Advanced Analytics in Higher Education

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.

Rationale: Rebecca Barber is the coordinator and one of the only instructors in the program. She resigned from MLFTC in 2019 to assume her current position of VP, Financial Planning, Budgeting, and Analysis at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Since the inception of the program, enrollments have been relatively low. Since 2016, 97 students have enrolled. The program does not reflect the broader inclusivity and systemic diversity goals of the college. We will consider redeveloping parts of this certificate within the MS in Education Sciences program, which also intersects our MEd in Higher and Postsecondary Education.
