Motion Introduced by: Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee

Date of First Reading: October 2, 2023

Date of Second Reading: October 30, 2023

Title of Motion: Request from Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions –School of Public Affairs/School of Community Resources and Development – for the disestablishment of an undergraduate certificate – Creative City

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.

Rationale: The certificate requires 15 credit hours, including two required core classes that have not been offered by the School of Public Affairs (SPA) since 2018 (specifically, PAF 405, Citizen Engagement and Community Building, and  PAF 406, Public Administration and Community Development).  In addition to impacts from Covid-19, programmatic restructuring in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Service and a critical review of SPA teaching capacity led to this decision to disestablish this program.
