Motion Introduced by: Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee
Date of First Reading: October 2, 2023
Date of Second Reading: October 30, 2023
Title of Motion: Request from Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions –School of Public Affairs/School of Community Resources and Development – for the disestablishment of an undergraduate certificate – Leadership, Ethics and Service
Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.
Rationale: The Certificate in Leadership, Ethics and Service has not enrolled any students since 2017-18. A new certificate offered by the School of Public Affairs – “Leadership and Ethics" (PPLDECERT) is approved and enrolls students. In addition, the recent Watts College reorganization has resulted in the School of Public Affairs assuming responsibility for Cross-Sector Leadership (PPCSLDCERT),” another popular certificate program.
