Title of Motion: Request from The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – School of International Letters and Cultures – for the name change of a graduate degree – From: PhD in Spanish – To: PhD in Spanish Literature and Culture

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: The School of International Letters and Cultures requests that its PhD in Spanish be renamed into Spanish Literature and Culture PhD to reflect its emphasis as well as new directions in the field. The name change will not only allow for further recruitment purposes but also align with many of our peer and aspirational institutions.
