Title of Motion: Request from the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering – for the establishment of a graduate degree – Doctor of Information Technology

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: The Doctor of Information Technology (DIT) program is designed for innovative leaders who wish to advance their knowledge and skills in technology innovations which are key to leading and influencing organizations. Students will develop engineering skills and professional competencies of collaborations, communication, agility, and teamwork, to advance their leadership career. The program provides a multi-disciplinary approach that leverages multiple courses to build competencies that innovate reliable, effective, and secure communications networks, design and implement secure systems for both employees and customers; and leverage data models and architecture to support business decisions from data analytics. Students will utilize the leading technologies, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data science to be prepared to work in large corporations, government agencies, and small businesses.
