Title of Motion: Request from the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering – School of Integrated Engineering – for the establishment of an undergraduate degree – BS in Engineering Science and the concentration in Engineering Science (Microelectronics)

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: Our Engineering Science degree provides a platform for the agile creation of multidisciplinary concentrations integrating math, science and engineering to enable graduates to develop innovative solutions to the most demanding problems facing our society. Graduates of the program will have both a broad mathematical, science and engineering skillset as well as a specialized skillset tied to their chosen concentration. Microelectronics focuses on the study of microelectronic circuits and devices. The Microelectronics concentration in our Engineering Science degree will prepare graduates with the knowledge and skills for careers in a variety of industries, including semiconductors, integrated circuit design, telecommunications, robotics and medical devices.
