Title of Motion: Request from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts – for the establishment of an academic unit – ASU FIDM

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: In Spring 2023, ASU integrated with a fashion school in Los Angeles, CA known as Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM). This school was merged with the existing Fashion program under the School of Art within the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts and rebranded as ASU FIDM. This request is to take the entire ASU FIDM program out from under the umbrella of the School of Art and make it a separate academic unit within the Herberger Institute.
