Title of Motion: Request from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College – Division of Educational Leadership and Innovation – for the establishment of a graduate certificate – Environmental Education
Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.
Rationale: By completing this certificate, students will build environmental content knowledge, communication skills, critical thinking about environmental issues, and commitment to being environmentally responsible citizens. The educational goals of the environmental education graduate certificate are to create new knowledge (environmental knowledge, natural history knowledge, etc.) related to environmental and life sciences, develop effective teaching, leadership, and communication skills applicable across many professions, and implement a variety of strategies for assessing learning and action outcomes.
