Title of Motion: Request from the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences – School of Social and Behavioral Sciences – for the establishment of a graduate certificate – Social Justice and Human Rights
Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.
Rationale: Students in the social justice and human rights graduate certificate explore key topics, such as labor, migration, education and the environment, and the legal, political, historical and cultural frameworks that contextualize them. The program is well suited to those aiming to channel their interests and passions toward ethical responses to social injustice and human rights abuses.
