2026-52
Motion Introduced by: Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee
Date of First Reading: February 2, 2026
Date of Second Reading: March 2, 2026
Title of Motion: Request from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication – for the name change of a graduate program – From: MS in Digital Audience Strategy – To: MS in Digital Strategy and Audience Engagement
Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.
Rationale: The Cronkite School seeks this name change to better align students’ degree with their skills, and to more effectively market the program. While "Digital Audience Strategy" partly addresses a core skill of the program, it is not an industry-recognized term; "digital strategy" and "audience engagement" more effectively communicate the professional skills and competencies students learn.
