Title of Motion: Request from the Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation – Division for Advancing Education Policy, Practice and Leadership – for the establishment of a graduate certificate – Fundamentals of Environmental Education

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: The microcertificate program in fundamentals of environmental education provides a focused, interdisciplinary curriculum that equips participants with essential skills in environmental education, civic engagement, and sustainability. The program emphasizes experiential learning, scientific inquiry, and community-based problem solving, helping learners develop competencies in observation, data collection, communication, and systems thinking.
