Motion Introduced by: Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee
Date of First Reading: March 2, 2026
Date of Second Reading: March 30, 2026
Title of Motion: Request from Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions – School of Community Resources and Development – for the name change of an undergraduate degree – From: BS in Tourism and Recreation Management – To: BS in Sport and Recreation Management
Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.
Rationale: This change is necessary to distinguish this program from the newly proposed BS in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management. By removing "Tourism" from this title, the University eliminates curriculum redundancy and confusion, creating two distinct academic pathways: one focused on hospitality and tourism, and this program, which focuses on community-based sport and recreation.
