Q&A with senator

 

ASU affiliated:

How many years have you been employed at ASU? 

I have had the pleasure of serving as an assistant teaching professor at Arizona State University (ASU) for about a year.  Before that, I collaborated in research with faculty and scholar teams at Arizona State University.

 

What other institutions have you taught at before coming to ASU?

I have taught a diverse range of audiences, topics, and pedagogies at several world-renowned institutions and schools, including ASU, the University of Toronto, and Simon Fraser University. 

 

What is your research and/or creative activities focus? 

My research focuses on the intersections of engineering education, human-systems engineering, and AI in education, with over 30 peer-reviewed journal publications (published or under review) as the lead and corresponding author.

How many years have you served in the Senate?  

I have had the honor of joining the Senate since January 2025.

 

Why did you decide to get involved with the Senate? 

I was motivated to get involved in the Senate by the caliber of faculty participation and the opportunity to learn from experts while contributing to ASU in a meaningful way.

 

Describe what you have learned (or hope to learn) during your time in the Senate?

My experience in the ASU Senate enhances my skills in governance, collaboration, strategic thinking, leadership, and problem-solving while providing opportunities to learn from experienced faculty and administrators.

 

What committees have you participated in, or would like to participate in, and what were you able to (or hope to) accomplish

I am excited to contribute to areas such as the Committee on Committees, Teaching and Learning, and Research, and I welcome new opportunities to get involved.

 

What would you say to your peers who might be considering accepting a nomination or nominating himself or herself for a position in the University Senate?

I highly encourage my colleagues to consider serving on the University Senate because it is a chance to learn from exceptional leaders, make a meaningful impact, understand the university governance, and develop leadership and collaboration skills.
