How many years have you served in the Senate? This is my 7th year (3rd term)

How many years have you been employed at ASU? 27

What other institutions have you taught at before coming to ASU? N/A

What is your research and/or creative activities focus?  I have a Service component as a Teaching Professor and enjoy working with others in a service capacity. In addition, I supervise Upper Division Spanish TAs for both in-person and online classes.

Why did you decide to get involved with the Senate? I wanted to be able work on issues that are important to Teaching Professors, Tenure Track Professors, and Instructors.

Describe what you have learned (or hope to learn) during your time in the Senate? I have learned that I enjoy attending the meetings and being able to share out information that is discussed during our meetings. I feel that it is a big responsibility, and one that should be taken seriously.

What committees have you participated in, or would like to participate in and what were you able to (or hope to) accomplish?  Last year was the first year that I participated in a committee, the Student Faculty Policy Committee, which I will continue to participate in this year. We have looked at the use of AI, cheating, and other issues.

What would you say to your peers who might be considering accepting a nomination or nominating himself or herself for a position in the University Senate? I would say that it is important to serve on the Senate if you are interested because it allows you a good view of University policy and procedure.
