Title of Motion: Request from the School of Letters and Sciences – for the rename  of an undergraduate degree – From: Bachelor of Liberal Studies – To: Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies

Action Requested: The Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee recommends University Senate approval of a proposal submitted by the School of Letters and Sciences – for the rename of an undergraduate degree – From: Bachelor of Liberal Studies – To: Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies

Rationale: The "BLS" nomenclature is sometimes confusing to our incoming students and often unfamiliar to perspective employers of our graduates. The BA will be less confusing and more universally understood. The name change is expected to boost enrollments and be a positive change for continuing students.
