Title of Motion: Request from W. P. Carey School of Business – School of Accountancy – for the name change of a graduate degree – From: MTax in Taxation – To: MTax in Taxation and Data Analytics

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.   

Rationale: The revised Master of Taxation will benefit our students by directly incorporating into our programs, the following skills required for today’s professional accountants. NASBA and the AICPA reported that their stakeholders across the profession state new CPAs increasingly need deeper skills and knowledge in areas such as, but not limited to: Critical thinking, professional judgment/skepticism, problem-solving, understanding of the business (including systems, controls, and risk), and data management and analysis.
