Title of Motion: Request from the College of Health Solutions– for the establishment of a graduate degree – MS in Cytology

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: This program will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to examine cells for signs of disease, including cancerous or precancerous changes, infections and inflammatory conditions.  In addition to learning about cytology from an academic perspective, students will become familiar with laboratory operations and preparation, companion diagnostic technologies, and applicable federal regulations.
