Title of Motion: Request from the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences – School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies – for the disestablishment of an undergraduate certificate – Philosophy, Rhetoric and Literature

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: The School of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies proposes to disestablish the Philosophy, Rhetoric and Literature certificate due to ongoing low enrollment and low demand for the program. Additionally, the faculty lead for the program is retiring, and as a result several core courses in the curriculum will no longer be offered.
