Title of Motion: Request from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College – for the name change of an academic unit – From: Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College – To: Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: The new name emphasizes that ASU’s college of education is built not merely to credential people but to think more broadly about who educators are, the roles they play, and variety of learning environments they serve.

The unit will remain the same. One college, two divisions but with different names that are more inclusive of what the college and these divisions actually do as well as updating the language to modern parlance.
