Title of Motion: Request from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College – Division of Teacher Preparation – for the name change of an academic unit – From: Division of Teacher Preparation – To: Division for Advancing Educator Preparation

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: The requested name change to  the “Division for Advancing Educator Preparation” better reflects the impact of the goals and engagement of this division. Educators extend well beyond the traditional notion of a classroom teacher; therefore, it is critical that our name demonstrates the reach of our work. Within the recently enhanced undergraduate and graduate certification pathways, prospective students are now able to enter, specialize and advance in multiple ways that best meet their professional goals and life situations.
