Title of Motion: Request from New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences – School of Interdisciplinary Forensics – for the name change of an undergraduate degree – From: BS in Computational Forensics – To: BS in Digital Forensics

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: The Computational Forensics, BS has seen very little enrollment since its inception. As a strategic initiative for New College and the School of Interdisciplinary Forensics, we propose to revamp the curriculum for this program and change its title to Digital Forensics, BS. Our recruiting and advising teams have consistently reported that students are not clear on what “computational” means and are often turned away by its heavy focus on math and statistics with very little focus on forensics.
