Title of Motion: Request from College of Global Futures – School of Complex Adaptive Systems – for the name change of an undergraduate degree – From: BS in Applied Mathematics for the Life and Social Sciences – To: BS in Complexity Science

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision. 

Rationale: The update to the name of the degree will indicate its new home in a cutting-edge academic enterprise and reflect changes to the major map currently in process that extend student training from the application of mathematical methods (already well served by other ASU units) to an integrated suite of complex systems approaches that can empower students to address future challenges in innovative ways across a wide array of knowledge domains.
