Title of Motion: Request from Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions – School of Social Work – for the establishment of a graduate certificate – Foundations in Gerontology
Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.
Rationale: Students completing the foundations in gerontology microcertificate will learn and practice the skills of conducting assessments and crafting interventions through an anti-racist, anti-oppressive lens that honors older adults and their communities. By embracing the multifaceted identities and dimensions of those they will work with, participants will equip themselves to navigate diverse roles and contexts with enhanced efficacy.
