Title of Motion: Request from the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences – School of Social and Behavioral Sciences – for the establishment of a graduate certificate – Science Communication

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.   

Rationale: Improved science communication is essential for addressing today’s complex challenges—from pandemics to climate change—yet scientists and science organizations often struggle to clearly convey the importance, benefits, and limitations of their work. This certificate helps close that gap by connecting scientific expertise with communication theory, strategy, and practice.
