Title of Motion: Request from The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – School of Civic & Economic Thought and Leadership – for the establishment of an undergraduate degree – BS in Philosophy, Politics and Economics
Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.
Rationale: This program will equip students with a robust analytical framework to tackle the enduring questions of political, social and ethical life. Modeled after esteemed PPE programs like those at Oxford and Yale, ASU’s version will emphasize civic knowledge, ethical reasoning, and practical problem-solving, aligning with SCETL’s mission to cultivate informed and engaged citizens.
