Title of Motion: Request from Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts – The Design School –

For the disestablishment of an undergraduate degree – BS in Environmental Design

Action Requested: This curricular proposal has received all college, school, unit and university administrative approvals, and is being presented to the Senate for review and voting decision.   

Rationale: After thorough review and consultation with the Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, and Environmental Design (LAUDED) faculty, The Design School is proposing to discontinue the standalone BS in Environmental Design (BSED). Historically, the current BSED program functioned as an alternative for students not admitted into Architecture or Landscape Architecture, but with recent changes to those programs and admissions, BSED enrollment has significantly declined.
